Pierre Maixent wins 10º Jet Waves Championship

> 09/09/2008

Itajaí (Santa Catarina/Brazil) -

French ace Pierre Maixent cemented his dominance of 10º Jet Waves Championship in Itajaí. The French freeride Jet Ski has beaten rival American’s Ross Champion in the finals hit on the penultimate stop of this season’s world championship. The contest has held at Brava beach in Itajaí south Brasil where Maixent did great aerial tricks and he’s top the expectation doing a “back flip clicker” kind of trick very known by motocross freestyle.

Amazing aerial tricks have settled this third stage of the world championship. Italian’s Frederico Bufacchi and Brasilian Alexandre Lenzi were third and fourth at the course. “I had tried several times to do this trick before. First I’ve crashed and second I’ve even broken my head. This was the first time I could do it in a competition and I got it”, said the elated Maixent. “I’m really very happy with this and this is a kind of trick very common at motocross freestlye”. Ross Champion current top of world ranking (40 points) did also a great performance trying to overcome the French flying “black flip superman”, but the three times freeride world champion did better. “I’ve ran against the best freeride pilot in the world and one of my best friend also”, said the American athlete.

At the semi-finals hits, which were fought today, Brazil’s Alexander Lenzi has shown the local freeriders high technical level by doing a lot of aerial tricks and surfing great on the waves, however he was knocked out by Ross Champion and his “black flip superman”. Lenzi has been also beaten for the third position by Italian Bruno Bufacchi in a very tough fighting maneuver by maneuver.

With the standing of the third and penultimate stop of world season decided, world championship has gone on at Brava beach to take place immediately the fourth and last of the season IFWA Championship Challenge. Took part in the new competition the athletes who were the most graduated of the international ranking and also were present at the moment of the fight. Graham Reid (UK), Pierre Maixent (FRA), Arkadius Schramek GER), Romain Stampers (FRA), Alexander Lenzi (BRA), Bruno Bufacchi (ITA), Brett Armstrong (SA) e Ross Champion (USA), will be fighting for the world title of this season.
