IJSBA Announces PWC Video Games World Championships
> 03/18/2008
The IJSBA is pleased to announce that the 2008 quakysense World Finals
will feature the world’s first PWC Video Game World Championships.
For the first time, the IJSBA will sanction competition
and award World Championships in the video game portrayal of PWC racing.
This is not just a first for the sport of PWC Racing but a first for
the entire video game industry. Never before has a video game tournament
been held concurrent with the real-life sport that is being depicted
in the video game.
Aside from attracting more attention to the sport of
PWC Racing, expansion into the video game tournament provides many excellent
opportunities for the World Finals vendors and our host, Lake Havasu
City.
The 2007 World Finals saw a dramatic increase in vendors
offering products both inside and outside of the PWC industry. World
Finals vendors will now have an even larger consumer base to which those
vendors can offer their products.
Video game competitors are expected to come from international
locations as well as destinations from the United States. The bulk of
video game competitors will come from the Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Southern
California regions. This will mean a good contingent of visitors to
Lake Havasu City who will discover that it is one of the world’s
most welcoming destinations for a vacationing family.
The biggest winner from this addition to the World Finals
is the PWC sport and industry as a whole. Personal Watercraft use- especially
IJSBA Racing- is simply the best activity that can be enjoyed by any
individual or family.
PWC sales and use have been on the rise in recent years
and the introduction of the PWC to a wider audience will only result
in more growth and ownership. Few people can resist the fun and excitement
of the greatest recreational and competitive activity on the planet.
The IJSBA is currently reviewing categories, rules,
and other criteria to finalize the format of the Video Game portion
of the World Finals. Complete details are expected to be released on
April 5, 2008.
